Located within the Park of the Conero, European Blue Flag. Ancient port piceno refounded by the Syracusans, Numana was included in the routes Athenians and became a famous store and distribution center of Greek goods to inwards and middle Adriatic. Colony and then Municipium Roman, gradually declined in the Middle Ages as a result of earthquakes and looting. In recent years, from a humble fishing village was transformed into a modern tourist city, while maintaining a good balance with the historic center. The symbol of the city are the marina, the Tower, an arc with origins remain unknown, and the Costarella, alley popular and characteristic, in summer it becomes a natural stage of exhibitions picturesque.

THE SHRINE OF THE CRUCIFIX Rebuilt in 1968 to replace an earlier building, attributed to Pellegrino Tibaldi (the old temple were saved part of the frescoes of the vault, by the painter Andrea Lilli), houses the Miraculous Crucifix in wood, which most likely was transported to Europe from the ' French Emperor Charlemagne as a gift to Pope Leo III, but due to a storm the emperor was forced to stay in town and there abandoned the statue, which was found at sea after an earthquake, which made the collapse of the cliff on which lies the ancient village. In contrast to the baroque Church of San Giovanni Battista, the modern church has a base with an octagonal spire tip, and the main entrance is located before the Bishops Palace, seat of the town of Numana. TOURIST PORT OF NUMANA The Palace of the Bishops belonging to noble families in Rome and then purchased by the bishops of Ancona as a summer residence. Today is the seat of the town hall and hosts exhibitions. The Arc tower and aqueduct are evidence of Roman rule. Within walking distance of each other, the arc is the remnant of a tower (so low after the earthquake of 1930) used as an outpost to prevent the attacks from the Adriatic Sea, while the aqueduct, embellished with a fountain, provided water to the town until a few decades ago.
