Born in Lisbon in 1195 by a noble and powerful family, was brought up (only 6 years) to the clergy of the cathedral to be educated in the "sacred letters". He spent two years in the monastery of Sao Vicente, tormented by the visit of ex-friends superficial and vicious. Then he moved to Coimbra, where he spent 8 years of intense application to study sacred. He was ordained a priest in Santa Cruz, was 25 years. The Shrine Basilica of St. Anthony of Padua is one of Europe's most important buildings, both architecturally and religious. consists of three buildings, which are superimposed and incorporated between 1238 and 1310.
